Passing- is one of the most important components of basketball. Passing was made to create teamwork. There are many teams and all the players must pass to one another to be successful and keep their career. Passing is how you move the ball around the court. There is the chest pass where you press the ball to your chest and push it towards your teammate. There is also the bounce pass when you bounce it on the ground to get it to your teammate. Passing also helps you keep the ball away from the opposing team.
| Dribbling- is how you move around on the court successfully. If you can not dribble you can't play. If you take two steps without dribbling it is considered a travel. Traveling can occur when you run with the ball and don't dribble. It could be called a travel when you attempt to take a shot and land with the ball in your hand, but the technical term is an up and down. You could also have a double-dribble. That is when you stop dribbling and then start dribbling again. You can't possibly have a game of basketball when nobody is dribbling. Nobody could move with the ball. You can also dribble between the legs and behind the back if you have had a lot of practice. | Shooting- is the last key component to basketball. Shooting is the way to score points. If you do not sore at all, then why have a game. There are many different kinds of shots. The easiest shot is the layup. It is very simple, all you do is run up to the basket and shoot quickly during a jump. You could do it fancy such as behind the back, under the leg, or even one-handed. There is a foul shot when somebody touches you when you have the ball or they have the ball. It is called an offensive or defensive foul. There is the three-point shot where you shoot behind the three-point line and make it in. That is one of the hardest shots there is. If you master all of these you can get fancy. There is the fade-away shot when you jump backwards while you're shooting. |
