Out of Bounds- is when the ball goes outside of the black line surrounding the entire court. As soon as it goes out, it automatically goes to the team that didn't touch it last before it went out. The player who touches it last before it goes out of bounds, is the one who technically knocked it out. There are ways to get the other person that is guarding you to knock it out when you are cornered. You simply throw the ball at their foot and let it just roll out. | Foul- is when you touch somebody on the opposing team intentionally or unintentionally. Either way it is against the rules because you can hurt them. This means no pushing, shoving, hitting, kicking, tripping, slapping, or even a pinch. Any form of physical contact to the opposing team is a foul. There are several ways to deal with it. It could be two foul shots from the player who has been fouled. There is also one foul shot from the player who was fouled. The last option is for the team that the player was fouled on inbounds or gets the ball. There is a defensive and offensive foul. The defensive is when the defense fouls the offense. The offensive is when the offense fouls the defense. | Traveling and Double-Dribbling- Traveling is when you take more than two steps without dribbing. Some referees might also consider jumping up to shoot and then coming down with the ball. It is really an up and down. Traveling can occur at almost any time during the game except for scoring and inbounding. Double-dribbling is when you have the ball, dribble, stop dribbling, and then dribble again. The only things you can do when you stop dribbling are to shoot or pass. Remember: Never lose your dribble unless you are planing on shooting or passing. |
